Fashion for globetrotters

I love maxi dresses, especially if they feel light and flowy. They are easy to wear and make for colourful pictures too. This was my first experience of Chinchilla in Camps Bay, Cape Town.

Poor quality shot but great memories nonetheless. This picture was taken in Vienna, Austria back in 2016 when my husband won a top achiever award at work. I had the honour and privilege of accompanying him on this 5 star experience.

Maximising on my backdrop. Doors are magnificent pieces of art, which are a trademark of Stone Town, Zanzibar.

Picture taken at Kendwa beach, Zanzibar. I was holding an empty coconut shell I picked up on the beach, just to look cool!

I'm a fashion lover at heart. I even started a fashion business - Flair Collection - and so it would be amiss of me to talk about all things travel without talking about my fashion faves on all my travels. There are light travelers and then there are heavy travelers. I think I'm a medium traveler and I'll explain why. The heaviness or lightness of my luggage depends on a number of reasons and as a result, the amount of packing I need to do takes all of these into account. Let me give an example.  If I'm going on a beach holiday, chances are I'll be going somewhere warm and I'll also spend most of my days in bikinis. So, naturally, my suitcase/s will have a range of swimsuits and beach covers to give me plenty of options for my beachwear. I'll obviously also pack some light clothes (LOL). Depending on who I'll be traveling with, there'll be a dress-up dinner just about every single night but again, these will be the usual cocktail dresses, which are generally quite light. So, my beach holiday packing will be fairly light overall. Sidenote: I do pack a lot of accessories too, which have at times put me in trouble because they tend to add a significant amount of weight.
If I'm going on a trip that involves different kinds of activities like sightseeing, shopping, dining, clubbing etc, I tend to pack a lot heavier because I start feeling like I need options for just about every occasion. The great thing about packing is that it adds excitement during the build-up to the trip. Over the years, I've also learned some tricks about packing, such as rolling my clothes instead of folding them the traditional way. It saves a lot of space and interestingly, reduces creasing! Other essential fashion items are sling bags. I usually take a couple of them because I want bags that will go with my outfits. I generally choose sling bags with minimal or no patterns. It makes it easier to co-ordinate them with any other colours I may be wearing. The smaller they are, the better for me but I always make sure I can fit important things I need throughout the day such as my lip gloss, hand cream, sunglasses, wallet and some tissues. Do you have any packing tricks for your trips abroad? I'd like to hear them. Please share!

If you'd like to find out what my plans are as far as 'Fashion for Globetrotters' goes then stick around. There's much more substance in this post and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
