About Me

Hi there!

Welcome to my blog! It's great to see you here. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My given name is Faith but I go by many other pseudo names, which are too many to list here. For convenience, let's stick with Mrs Phosh. I'm a travel addict who has no interest whatsoever in finding a cure. This picture here was taken in Venice, Italy, in 2013. My biggest mission on earth is to see every corner of it - yes, all 294 countries are on my list! How am I doing, you ask? I'll let you be the judge. I just know that I'm here to share the many lessons I've learned through my travels around the world, with the hope that I can inspire many to set their own travel goals in motion. I hope to demystify a lot of the misconceptions about travel and to give you hope that your dreams are within reach.

I refer to myself as a 100% pure Pedi breed, born of Pedi parents and brought up in Limpopo. I grew up in a family of six – my parents, my three siblings and myself. Growing up, my parents frequently took us on many family holidays. We were either visiting family in the same or different provinces or going to holiday resorts across the country. I also had the privilege of travelling on school trips that exposed me to other provinces that my family and I may not have ventured into. Being active in school I was either going to netball tournaments or athletics competitions or even school choir competitions (yes, I was considered to have a good singing voice back then)! So, I was exposed to travel from a very young age and have always enjoyed our family trips, whether they were visits to our extended family or one-holiday resort or the other. Our school trips were also quite fun! The experiences were different, and even though I may not recall them individually, I certainly look back on all the trips with great fondness.

What we didn't do as a family was travel outside of South Africa or Africa for that matter. I've never asked my parents why that was so, but I would take a guess and suggest they may have considered it an expensive adventure or perhaps may have thought there was no suitable time to do that. Maybe it was the limitations put on Black communities in general and the perception of the rest of the world not being accessible to them. Whatever the reason, it led to my siblings and I not travelling outside of South Africa until we could do so on our own as adults. Furthermore, having been a public school student, there were no opportunities to travel outside of South Africa on school trips either. I had to unleash my own exploration of the world when I started working and this is where you'll be able to follow my stories from all around the world.

So, stay with me and tag along through my journeys. I may just be the key to your travel adventures and this may be the place where you find the answers you've been looking for. It's time to stop dreaming and start doing!

Let's GO!
